Ist week in Chile!!

Mama,
Oh my goodness not a clue where to start so here we go.
So last night in the CCM we all just sat on the roof and shared our testimonies and stuff. It was really nice. So we get to the airport get everything through customs and such. I’m skimming because i told you most of this on the phone. Talking to you was amazing. So we get to the airport and we see the mission pres and some elders waving at us. It was nice to arrive somewhere on time for once. Wooohoo! So We all load up into a bus and kinda take a tour around Concepcion. Concepcion is not in my mission. We start just south of the Rio Bio-Bio in San Pedro and basically go just past Temuca. Then we get to the mission office and start getting everything figured out. It was really cool, Pres Bleuth is a really nice guy and so is Hermana Bleuth. But so we eat dinner at the Bleuth's house and then back to the office for more orientation. We sleep in a holiday inn which i am now in love with. Seriously comfiest bed i have ever slept. Not really but it felt so good after 6 weeks of the ccm bed. Then on Wednesday we got our trainers. We got a cool talk about the history of the church in chile, which i will tell you about later im sure. Then we all move to one side of the chapel and our trainers come in. Then they stand up say their name and where there area is. Then Presidente says who is the newbie with them. Then everyone claps and so on. I was towards the end. My trainer is Elder Sanders. He is from Utah but so is everyone. But he is a super cool dude I really like him and am super glad he is my trainer. Seriously nice guy.

And yeah. So we get on a double decker bus back to my area. Im in Los Àngeles Sur. Las Americas sector. Best sector ever. But then we get a mecro or a smaller bus that continually goes in a route back to our casa. Its a pretty nice little casa. Bunkbeds. Im on bottom and this is seriously the most sketchy bed i have ever been on. Everytime Sanders moves I think its gunna fall. Seriously sketchy. My mattress is on the floor because the boards are like half gone so its easier.

So we get back and start walking around. I met our mamita who is the lady who does our laundry. She is nice, kinda crazy but nice. And then we met another member and start contacting. No luck on contacting. We get back and I unpack and get moved into my cabinet and stuff.
Thursday is lots of contacting and walking. Meecros are like 400 a piece so we walk a lot. The chilean peso is about 500 to 1 us dollar. Just over but for easy math we go with 500. So we had zone meeting in the morning. It was super cool, we had to introduce ourselves with water in our mouths. Elder Patino who is new but went to the chilean ccm spilled water everywhere but other than that everyone did decent. My video should be on photobucket. Then we all split up and went to our districts. I have an insane district. Seriously noone there would pass a sanity test. In other words it is awesome. Then we had a few citas fall through and then contacting. No real luck there either.
Friday. Lots of citas actually. Sanders taught a lot. I sat there and tried not getting completely and utterly lost. Didn’t really work but I tried. Some contacting success some people told us come back later and got into 2 houses. So that was awesome. Hopefully they will be there when we come back.
I hated saturday. I kid you not it never stopped raining. Everything on me was soaked to the bone. My insoles to my shoes are still not dry. Nor are my shoes. And its the end of the month so we are pretty much out of gas so we cant run our heater if we want hot showers. So thats been fun. But I love my rain jacket and thermals. Seriously amazing. I also don’t think a day has gone by where I haven’t worn my sweater. Its cold here.
Sunday was cool. I introduced myself to the barrio and shared my testimony. That was nerve racking. But I survived. One of our investigators came to church so that was awesome. We are hoping she will accept a fecha this week for baptism. Excited for that. We have one other guy with a fecha right now too. The 18th.
Monday has been fun. Studied all morning then went downtown and got the mega completa. Thats what those pictures are. Seriously I mean HUGE. I couldn’t eat it all. I thought I could eat at home but I am dieing out here. I struggle to finish Almuerza everyday. They give us a 3 course meal for lunch everyday  called Almuerza. The first day I leaned over and asked if i had to finish it everyday. Sanders just nodded and cleaned his plate. Im serious i am going to explode one day. I don’t eat breakfast or dinner because i am always full. Its hard i know woe is me.

Ok so couple stories.
So we are contacting with a member named Ramone. Nice kid. We aloo a house and a kid comes out and opens the gate and lets us in. We ask him where his parents are and he is just like oh just a second. But like a minute and half later no one is there so we leave. Pretty sure they had no idea.
They don’t knock here. You stand outside the gate and yell aa-loooo say like ahlow. Then they come out.
They also do this thing where they shake hands hug right shoulder to shoulder then shake. We don’t do it with hermanas but other than that. The locals if they know each other do the kiss on the cheek thing. We also don’t do that with anyone.
All the houses are small but they don’t think anything of it. Its just how everyones is. But yeah. I really loved talking to you at the airport. Oh I lost my journal. That sucks. Writing in my notebook for now. So maybe in the next package you could send me one. Or something. But yeah. Yeah DyC 4 is great. I memorized it in spanish yes, Kinda what you do right? I haven’t used my english scriptures since i got here basically. I cant read fast though. Like 2 days for a chapter. Of like half an hour a day. Its pathetic. But I’m focusing on understanding not getting through it. So I look up a lot of words. I think I lost some spanish ability since the CCM but yeah. Oh well right? Ill get better I hope.
Wow there is not enough time in this hour. I love my mission and am super glad to be here.

Elder Galbreath the 6th confused as ever.
