Paps,
We got to watch conference in english it was awesome! They have another room set up in the chapel for the missionaries so there was like 6 of us in there. Most of our zone came to this chapel for conference. Pretty much all of LA sur. It was so amazing I have never appreciated conference as much as I have while on the mission. I mean I took notes on so much stuff and got so much out of it. We had 1 of our family investigators come to the first session on sunday and another investigator to the 2nd. It was awesome when Bednar stood up and said I am talking to the non members in specific here. I got so excited. But it went really the first investigator is a family who is super cool he speaks some english so he tries talking to me and I try talking to him in spanish so it works. Haha. But they don’t feel like they know enough to get baptized yet so we are working on getting them to realize that they don’t need to know enough. Alma 32 21 is like our calling card at this point. And the other investigator is a 20 year old girl who just isn’t a hundred percent sure. So same thing basically. When we can get them to realize they don’t need to know everything they will be golden.
I can’t repeat Conference enough. Seriously it was amazing. Elder Robbins was so crazy good he was like the Holland of the 70. Then the German elder of the 70 was just like hey be the master of your house. Work out, study, stop making excuses. That was super good. Right before Uchtdorfs talk on not pointing fingers the talk on tithing and fast offerings. Then a missionary said all of chile needed that talk, because they have major problems about tithing. Then Uchtdorf got up and said don’t think oh that was meant for someone else. It got super quiet in our room and we all went, oops. I love how you can so many emotions during like 13 seconds worth of talk.
So this week was pretty uneventful. We got a couple new investigators we are excited for. A couple kids actually introduced us to their parents and we are teaching one of them. Excited for that.
Story time!!
Ok so there was a lady throwing wood into the back of this like old bus type thing with no seats so we walked up and asked if we could help. So we started helping her and talking to her and such and i realized how soft my hands were now. Like the wood actually felt rough in my hands. I don’t like it I have sissy hands now.
So on the way to conference we were like a block away and this super short woman starts calling us over. So she catches up to us and starts talking to us and follows us into church. So we sit down and she is talking and we kinda tell that maybe she isn’t all there because she is super loud and repeats herself like 20 times. She starts yelling give me a book give me a book so Sanders like grabs a restoration...folleto? Like a flyer thing I don’t know in english. But yeah and that satisfies her. And I'm thinking I am gunna have to watch in spanish because if we have investigators here I would have to. Then she just stands up and leaves. Super weird.
Sunday comes and Josey Natalia our investigators come. So I sit down with them and right before it starts Jose leans over and asks if I will understand anything. I say I’ll get parts and I’ll be fine. He just kind of laughs and tells me to go to the english room. Sanders tells me the same so I do. I felt a little bad but it was awesome enough that I’m ok. But I ran back out and talked to them after. He is super nice guy.
Standing outside session made me realize a little more what I am. I mean I still think of myself as some big white kid in chile and not as a missionary. But I mean really when people see me they think of a missionary, not Wyatt the kid who likes Ag and guns. Its kinda weird. I still have to remind myself that i am in chile sometimes. Hasn’t sunk in a lot yet.
Intercambios were this weeks. Splits to you english people. Went over to santa Barbera with another elder. Santa Babs is a pretty small pueblito. Kinda liked that. But it made me really appreciate Sanders. When I am senior comp I will definitely work on being good at talking to everyone.
Who cooks your almuerza? Is it the same person? Could you ask for smaller portions?
Almuerzo is with members so it changes everyday. No its a country thing like they all just eat a ton. Like I could but it would be super rude and I wouldn’t do that. I’m getting better. I just eat small breakfast and nothing else. It works. I think I’m losing weight. My ring like doesn’t fit anymore. Thats kind of annoying but I went down a belt thing. I’m sure I’ll gain it all back when I get used to all this food. But until then I’m good!
So cold and rainy? Have you worn your rain pants? Are you switching shoes? Let one dry while you wear the other. Do you want me to find overshoes? How is the shopping? Anything you miss so far?
This week was actually only rainy one day for a little bit. Pretty warm and sunny. Its supposed to be like this for a while. No on the pants yet. Yes I switch shoes everyday. Shopping well we don’t do a lot. I got a journal today and just some little stuff for breakfasts. for now I’ll be good. The only thing that might be nice is some like cheaper dr scholls insoles in case these get wet for the next day. But no rush on those with this weather.
What in the world was in the giant sandwich? was it smeared in guacamole?
That Mother is a hot dog. Called a completo. And yeah they put guac and mayo on everything. Actually doesnt taste to bad. They put some other stuff in it here. And yeah i dont eat it all or often if i can help it.
So your heater is gas powered? so do I need to send a co2 detector?
No we have one. And yeah just a propane tank. Pretty high tech.
Citas are slow. Noone is really ever there. kinda sucks. But when we do get in and if we can get past the God is uno solo thing we do well. 4 progressing investigators right now. Couple new hopefuls.
Well I guess thats it for this week. Miss you
Elder Galbreath the 6th and confused and happy.
