Two months out! Wow.

Sabado is saturday so pretty close. Domingo Ayuno. Kind of. But yeah. (I tried to say fat sunday by saying sabado rapido, oops) You have got to slow down ma that much excitement is going to get to an old lady like you :-) just kidding love you. So sounds like a cool week. Really they lost to the cowboys? Thats just embarrassing.
I miss the temple. Definitely didn’t appreciate it while I was there. Apparently when we leave we stop by the Santiago temple for a session with everybody that leaves. That will be cool kind of excited. But thats not for a long time.
Training is going good really. I’m learning the language slowly. Very slowly. Sanders is a machine I am constantly impressed by his knowledge of the gospel and of the language. Taught a new investigator couple and they kind of sortof (maso-menos) accepted a baptism date. Excited for that to progress to see how it all works out. They had another couple there that listened as well and it seemed to go over with them well to. So hopefully coming up we will get investigators. Right now we really don’t have investigators so we contact a lot. Like all day most day because our citas (appointments) fall through. Contacting some less or in actives trying to get them to come back to church. Its frustrating when you hear someone say that they believed the church and got baptized but stopped going and now they are attending a different church because it is easier or family wants them to. YOU KNOW ITS TRUE GOSH DANG IT! But yeah. So working on that.
Kind of a weird week overall, so tuesday was zone conference with Presidente Bleuth and the assistants and everyone. It was cool I didn’t understand like 90% of it though. But they had a video in english I liked so that was a good 9% of the meeting. Then we had almuerzo there with the zone. Had some amazing pollo empandas. Seriously probably the best food I have eaten. Then el Presidente went on splits with the district leader in Santa Barbera and we went on our way. Then we got a call that Presidente wanted to go on splits with us at 8. But we had pec at 8 so he came to that with us. It was cool he was impressed by how awesome our ward is. Our bishop is like hard core into missionary work so Bleuth was impressed. Then he took us out for completos and papas fritas (french fries) after. Super cool just to talk to him. He grew up in mexico actually on a farm. So we talked about that for a little bit. They would get 7 cuttings on average of alfalfa a year. Thats crazy. But yeah. It was nice because he is totally just trying to understand what he is doing too. Im not the only one! haha.
So the next day was interesting because Elder Haynes the short one in my casa, fell into the river. So there is this canal thing that is like halfway in our sector that separates a neighborhood from us. So we can walk around or jump it and save a ton of time. So they jumped it and Haynes threw is bag to Mcgeena ( i cant spell his name. He is from Peru) and mcgeena dropped it into the canal which has a little river in the bottom. So Haynes has to crawl all the way down and get his bag. The river is nasty its like sewage and trash. But all his stuff in his bag was soaked to the breaking point. We literally squeezed his scriptures dry. So wet. So everything of his is completely ruined. He is working on getting new stuff. Luckily his flashdrive and sd cards are still good. But his camera is toast. Then he ran back to other side to get his ring and we could not stop making Frodo jokes.  He rolled up his pants, and didn’t wear shoes because he just got out of the river so he looked like Frodo so much. And he was looking for a ring, and oh man the irony. But yeah.
Ok he is shorter, here he is wearing Wyatts coat!
So I am in las americas. Its all first world so paved and everything just not well taken care of. Dirty and the sidewalks are crazy here. Like they will go up like 2 feet at random point. And the trees here are super low so I have to duck every ten steps. The people mostly have a car or truck but most people take meecros or taxi things. Lots of taxis all the time. Kids come out at night times but during the night they are in school. And no one in this country wakes up in the morning so no one is out then. They have a little top type thing called a trompa that is pretty fun. I picked it up pretty fast so its been fun. But the people are kinda just a lazy people. There are little shops that sell like bread and pop and stuff on every street. Legitly every street has at least one sometimes 2. So you never walk far for frac or pop. Or pan. The food is pretty much not super weird compared to american food. Had pasta last night. Like spaghetti stuff.
So last story, we had almuerzo on Domingo with the familia Elos, and they were trying to pronounce my last name. No one in this country has been able to come close its funny. I have several nicknames now, Elder Nuevo, Elder Frac segundo, and Elder Woodruff. Woodruff is easier to say for them and somehow one kid got woodruff out of Galbreath so i dunno. And Frac is a cookie oreo type thing that is delicous but my comp has a serious problem with them he eats like way to many. But so he is Elder Frac and they couldn’t say my name so im Frac Segundo. But back to the story they were trying to pronounce my name and gave up so they asked me what my first name is. So I snickered and said Wyatt. So they looked at me, tried once or twice and gave up. So they asked me what my second name (middle name) and I died laughing and said Zimri. The entire family gave me blank looks and gave up. My name will be the downfall of my mission. But it will be worth it because noone here will be able to forget it. They can’t say it but they wont forget it.
There is graffiti everywhere. Those are just some cool ones.

And i agree that Garretts house looks legit. Much better than my little casa here.
Pday we shop, plan, clean and nap. Next week we are thinking about going to see the volcano nearby. But until that we are unexciting. Its fun though honestly. But our sector is the city so we don’t have a cool ocean or anything to go see.
And yes i know that song that will now be in my head forever. But thats cool ill watch it sometime...oh wait no i wont.

Love you muchly,

Elder Galbreath the 6th/Frag Segundo/Woodruff.

Ps its been 2 month exactly since i left. Thats weird right?
               He gets a little cold.
               Pretty, green country.

General conference

Paps,
We got to watch conference in english it was awesome! They have another room set up in the chapel for the missionaries so there was like 6 of us in there. Most of our zone came to this chapel for conference. Pretty much all of LA sur. It was so amazing I have never appreciated conference as much as I have while on the mission. I mean I took notes on so much stuff and got so much out of it. We had 1 of our family investigators come to the first session on sunday and another investigator to the 2nd. It was awesome when Bednar stood up and said I am talking to the non members in specific here. I got so excited. But it went really the first investigator is a family who is super cool he speaks some english so he tries talking to me and I try talking to him in spanish so it works. Haha. But they don’t feel like they know enough to get baptized yet so we are working on getting them to realize that they don’t need to know enough. Alma 32 21 is like our calling card at this point. And the other investigator is a 20 year old girl who just isn’t a hundred percent sure. So same thing basically. When we can get them to realize they don’t need to know everything they will be golden.
I can’t repeat Conference enough. Seriously it was amazing. Elder Robbins was so crazy good he was like the Holland of the 70. Then the German elder of the 70 was just like hey be the master of your house. Work out, study, stop making excuses. That was super good. Right before Uchtdorfs talk on not pointing fingers the talk on tithing and fast offerings. Then a missionary said all of chile needed that talk, because they have major problems about tithing. Then Uchtdorf got up and said don’t think oh that was meant for someone else. It got super quiet in our room and we all went, oops. I love how you can so many emotions during like 13 seconds worth of talk.
So this week was pretty uneventful. We got a couple new investigators we are excited for. A couple kids actually introduced us to their parents and we are teaching one of them. Excited for that.
Story time!!
Ok so there was a lady throwing wood into the back of this like old bus type thing with no seats so we walked up and asked if we could help. So we started helping her and talking to her and such and i realized how soft my hands were now. Like the wood actually felt rough in my hands. I don’t like it I have sissy hands now.

So on the way to conference we were like a block away and this super short woman starts calling us over. So she catches up to us and starts talking to us and follows us into church. So we sit down and she is talking and we kinda tell that maybe she isn’t all there because she is super loud and repeats herself like 20 times. She starts yelling give me a book give me a book so Sanders like grabs a restoration...folleto? Like a flyer thing I don’t know in english. But yeah and that satisfies her. And I'm thinking I am gunna have to watch in spanish because if we have investigators here I would have to. Then she just stands up and leaves. Super weird.

Sunday comes and Josey Natalia our investigators come. So I sit down with them and right before it starts Jose leans over and asks if I will understand anything. I say I’ll get parts and I’ll be fine. He just kind of laughs and tells me to go to the english room. Sanders tells me the same so I do. I felt a little bad but it was awesome enough that I’m ok. But I ran back out and talked to them after. He is super nice guy.

Standing outside session made me realize a little more what I am. I mean I still think of myself as some big white kid in chile and not as a missionary. But I mean really when people see me they think of a missionary, not Wyatt the kid who likes Ag and guns. Its kinda weird. I still have to remind myself that i am in chile sometimes. Hasn’t sunk in a lot yet.

Intercambios were this weeks. Splits to you english people. Went over to santa Barbera with another elder. Santa Babs is a pretty small pueblito. Kinda liked that. But it made me really appreciate Sanders. When I am senior comp I will definitely work on being good at talking to everyone.

Who cooks your almuerza?  Is it the same person?  Could you ask for smaller portions?
Almuerzo is with members so it changes everyday. No its a country thing like they all just eat a ton. Like I could but it would be super rude and I wouldn’t do that. I’m getting better. I just eat small breakfast and nothing else. It works. I think I’m losing weight. My ring like doesn’t fit anymore. Thats kind of annoying but I went down a belt thing. I’m sure I’ll gain it all back when I get used to all this food. But until then I’m good!

So cold and rainy?  Have you worn your rain pants?  Are you switching shoes?  Let one dry while you wear the other.  Do you want me to find overshoes?  How is the shopping?  Anything you miss so far?
This week was actually only rainy one day for a little bit. Pretty warm and sunny. Its supposed to be like this for a while. No on the pants yet. Yes I switch shoes everyday. Shopping well we don’t do a lot. I got a journal today and just some little stuff for breakfasts. for now I’ll be good. The only thing that might be nice is some like cheaper dr scholls insoles in case these get wet for the next day. But no rush on those with this weather.
What in the world was in the giant sandwich?  was it smeared in guacamole?
That Mother is a hot dog. Called a completo. And yeah they put guac and mayo on everything. Actually doesnt taste to bad. They put some other stuff in it here. And yeah i dont eat it all or often if i can help it.
So your heater is gas powered? so do I need to send a co2 detector?
No we have one. And yeah just a propane tank. Pretty high tech.
Citas are slow. Noone is really ever there. kinda sucks. But when we do get in and if we can get past the God is uno solo thing we do well. 4 progressing investigators right now. Couple new hopefuls.

Well I guess thats it for this week. Miss you

Ist week in Chile!!

Mama,
Oh my goodness not a clue where to start so here we go.
So last night in the CCM we all just sat on the roof and shared our testimonies and stuff. It was really nice. So we get to the airport get everything through customs and such. I’m skimming because i told you most of this on the phone. Talking to you was amazing. So we get to the airport and we see the mission pres and some elders waving at us. It was nice to arrive somewhere on time for once. Wooohoo! So We all load up into a bus and kinda take a tour around Concepcion. Concepcion is not in my mission. We start just south of the Rio Bio-Bio in San Pedro and basically go just past Temuca. Then we get to the mission office and start getting everything figured out. It was really cool, Pres Bleuth is a really nice guy and so is Hermana Bleuth. But so we eat dinner at the Bleuth's house and then back to the office for more orientation. We sleep in a holiday inn which i am now in love with. Seriously comfiest bed i have ever slept. Not really but it felt so good after 6 weeks of the ccm bed. Then on Wednesday we got our trainers. We got a cool talk about the history of the church in chile, which i will tell you about later im sure. Then we all move to one side of the chapel and our trainers come in. Then they stand up say their name and where there area is. Then Presidente says who is the newbie with them. Then everyone claps and so on. I was towards the end. My trainer is Elder Sanders. He is from Utah but so is everyone. But he is a super cool dude I really like him and am super glad he is my trainer. Seriously nice guy.

And yeah. So we get on a double decker bus back to my area. Im in Los Àngeles Sur. Las Americas sector. Best sector ever. But then we get a mecro or a smaller bus that continually goes in a route back to our casa. Its a pretty nice little casa. Bunkbeds. Im on bottom and this is seriously the most sketchy bed i have ever been on. Everytime Sanders moves I think its gunna fall. Seriously sketchy. My mattress is on the floor because the boards are like half gone so its easier.

So we get back and start walking around. I met our mamita who is the lady who does our laundry. She is nice, kinda crazy but nice. And then we met another member and start contacting. No luck on contacting. We get back and I unpack and get moved into my cabinet and stuff.
Thursday is lots of contacting and walking. Meecros are like 400 a piece so we walk a lot. The chilean peso is about 500 to 1 us dollar. Just over but for easy math we go with 500. So we had zone meeting in the morning. It was super cool, we had to introduce ourselves with water in our mouths. Elder Patino who is new but went to the chilean ccm spilled water everywhere but other than that everyone did decent. My video should be on photobucket. Then we all split up and went to our districts. I have an insane district. Seriously noone there would pass a sanity test. In other words it is awesome. Then we had a few citas fall through and then contacting. No real luck there either.
Friday. Lots of citas actually. Sanders taught a lot. I sat there and tried not getting completely and utterly lost. Didn’t really work but I tried. Some contacting success some people told us come back later and got into 2 houses. So that was awesome. Hopefully they will be there when we come back.
I hated saturday. I kid you not it never stopped raining. Everything on me was soaked to the bone. My insoles to my shoes are still not dry. Nor are my shoes. And its the end of the month so we are pretty much out of gas so we cant run our heater if we want hot showers. So thats been fun. But I love my rain jacket and thermals. Seriously amazing. I also don’t think a day has gone by where I haven’t worn my sweater. Its cold here.
Sunday was cool. I introduced myself to the barrio and shared my testimony. That was nerve racking. But I survived. One of our investigators came to church so that was awesome. We are hoping she will accept a fecha this week for baptism. Excited for that. We have one other guy with a fecha right now too. The 18th.
Monday has been fun. Studied all morning then went downtown and got the mega completa. Thats what those pictures are. Seriously I mean HUGE. I couldn’t eat it all. I thought I could eat at home but I am dieing out here. I struggle to finish Almuerza everyday. They give us a 3 course meal for lunch everyday  called Almuerza. The first day I leaned over and asked if i had to finish it everyday. Sanders just nodded and cleaned his plate. Im serious i am going to explode one day. I don’t eat breakfast or dinner because i am always full. Its hard i know woe is me.

Ok so couple stories.
So we are contacting with a member named Ramone. Nice kid. We aloo a house and a kid comes out and opens the gate and lets us in. We ask him where his parents are and he is just like oh just a second. But like a minute and half later no one is there so we leave. Pretty sure they had no idea.
They don’t knock here. You stand outside the gate and yell aa-loooo say like ahlow. Then they come out.
They also do this thing where they shake hands hug right shoulder to shoulder then shake. We don’t do it with hermanas but other than that. The locals if they know each other do the kiss on the cheek thing. We also don’t do that with anyone.
All the houses are small but they don’t think anything of it. Its just how everyones is. But yeah. I really loved talking to you at the airport. Oh I lost my journal. That sucks. Writing in my notebook for now. So maybe in the next package you could send me one. Or something. But yeah. Yeah DyC 4 is great. I memorized it in spanish yes, Kinda what you do right? I haven’t used my english scriptures since i got here basically. I cant read fast though. Like 2 days for a chapter. Of like half an hour a day. Its pathetic. But I’m focusing on understanding not getting through it. So I look up a lot of words. I think I lost some spanish ability since the CCM but yeah. Oh well right? Ill get better I hope.
Wow there is not enough time in this hour. I love my mission and am super glad to be here.

Elder Galbreath the 6th confused as ever.

I'm alive!

Hey no lost bags too! Yeah I'm at the mission home its pretty legit right now. Still worried about the language but that to shall pass. Really excited to be here. Had lunch at the presidents house, it was super good. Definitely gunna have to work to keep off the weight. But I have three minutes to email so thats just about it now. I love you both so much, until next week

Elder Galbreath the 6th.
August 13th 2014-July 26 2016

Wyatt flew from the Mexico CCM to Chile monday night.  So we got  a phone call instead of an email.  It was so good to hear his voice.  He is excited to get to Chile but very worried about his spanish.  If he can memorize it he has.  So scriptures and doctrine he has down  It’s conversation he is worried about.  But he will get it down soon I am sure. So blessed to have this boy.  He would love to hear from any and all of you.

I can't believe he knows his coming home date!!

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Yeah we are all planning on getting calling cards as soon as we get to the airport. We leave the ccm at 4pm on monday. Plane leaves at like 830 so we should have time to call at the mexican airport. And we have an 8 hour flight to santiago, a 3 hour layover at santiago then to concepcion. Total of like 10 hours of flight. Its gunna be great. The ipad thing sounds rough. (read that as sarcastic as possible) Maybe you would do better if you had a typewriter or something more your age bracket. Do they sell stone and chisel at staples? Just kidding i love you, your beautiful. Work sounds super rough.
It is true. I have prayed more on my mission in these 6 weeks than i think i have my entire life beforehand. Shoes were in there don’t worry. I visually examined them.
So this week was pretty good really. Not a whole lot of stuff going down. I’ve been struggling with keep going because it seems like everyone is progressing so much faster than me. Its been pretty hard. But in a live broadcast from the Provo mtc Elder Scott said a quote i liked. The lord will fit the task to your abilities. I just need to keep trying and like everything else in life the lord will make up the difference. There is a story i like ill share. So a little girl really wanted a new bike and so she asked her dad if she could have it. But the dad saw that it was 100 dollars (lets just go with that price.) and knew he couldnt afford it. So he told her to save up all her pennies and maybe she could have enough to buy the bike. So she saves and saves and saves and after a while she comes to her dad and says Dad i saved all my money for a long time and i think i finally have enough. So her dad counts it out and sees she has 63 cents. But seeing how hard she worked and saved for that bike he kneels down and tell her if you give me all your money, a hug and a kiss, the bike is yours. Thats kind of what we are like. We can try as hard as we want but no matter we do we will never match up. We will always fall short of the glory of God. But if we are doing our best and saving our pennies, the Lord will make up the rest of it. Really like that.
So monday was the mexican independence day. September 15th. If anyone says that cinco de mayo is a big deal tell them they are wrong, only one city in mexico celebrates that apparently. My teacher told us its super dumb when people in the states make a big deal of it. But anywho so we had a big performance for us in the Gordon B hinckley building. It was cool lots of dancing. The pictures are blurry sorry they move fast. But Ma would love the dresses they were super ornate. Pretty cool. Then everyone sang the mexican national anthem, and did the viva mexico thing. It was different. They wave the mexican flag around during. You would never do that with the USA flag. At least you shouldnt. But yeah. So afterwards Mexico city is crazy that night. Our district climb up on a casa´s roof and watch and talk and have a good time. Parkin has 2 bottles of apple cider so he brought one of them up to the roof and we popped it and all got some and messed around. It was super fun. Definitely the best experience so far of the ccm. Not spiritual at all but it was awesome. That was the other thing i was struggling with was not really fitting in with any of my district. But that helped so much. And since then we have been getting closer. Im really gunna miss these guys when we get to the field. But im so ready and excited to go. Last couple days are gunna be long but worth it. Happy. Very happy.

Seriously how am i this bad at emailing?
So sunday we had a devotional by President Tenorio who is the 1st counselor to Presidente Pratt here at the ccm. He had a super awesome quote. He said that you could be a king, a queen, a czar or an emperor and you would still be a pygmy of what you could be in this church. Thought that was cool. The church is so true and powerful. It is the lords church. Nothing else could manifest itself in such a way and do as much as we do. Satan has power there is no denying it. But not enough for something this great to come from. Thats how i know it is true. Well that and other stuff.
So cool experience i was sitting in the enfermeria waiting for watkins to finish talking to Presidente Gill and there were some greenies in there and the secretary started talking to them and getting them to try and share like the  first vision and stuff. And i was totally able to help them and teach them about stuff. Made me feel pretty good about myself. Then I’ll go into the field and know absolutely nothing. But yeah for the time being we are the kings of the world here. Oldest district and such. Booyah.

So yeah. I cant think of much else. expect a call at like 530-7ish my time. I figure if i can ill call one parent from mexico and one from chile. But we will see how everything goes down.

1oh this is also my favorite part. So cual is what for facts. cual es su nombre is what is your name. Como is how. ( I asked him Cual es su espanol coming along?) But its progressing. slowly at times. But its coming.
2Holding up pretty good yeah. Like im alive and such. Wish i could figure everything out in like 10 seconds. Or even a minute. It would be nice to only have to worry about gospel stuff.
3 Is sleep ever a problem for me? Yeah getting plenty. My biggest problem is the morning is getting my comp out of bed. I get up at like 6, shower and study. then at like 640 watkins and i pull stevenson out of bed and he showers. Then Langeveld rolls out and is done by like 710. We are supposed to be at breakfast at 7. So thats frustrating. I have tried showering at night to try and get things rolling but it doesnt work. Thats our biggest companionship problem is timing. He views the schedules as like hey if you could be here that would be great. But if not no big deal. Or if you find something better to do do that. I see it as hey we have been asked to be here at this time lets be there 5 minutes early so we can be ready and start on time. It only took us 5 and a half weeks to figure it out though! Ha we are much better now though.
4 eating is kind of maso menos here. We eat the food. Enjoying food is kind of something we dream about. But the pastes pollo when we have those are so good. I love those. Tuesdays are pizza night and the worst night of the week. Im not a big pizza guy anway but its so greasy and really just not that good here. But you eat and say gracias to the servers because its what you do. Fresh rolls still make my day though.

Im glad yall are doing well. I have been told i may or may not have time to email monday so we will see.
Love ya

Study, study, study

WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY DOG!!!!!!!!!! Im glad he is doing better though. Wonder what he ate that could make him sick, dog has an iron stomach. Jake was talking about going and doing harvest when i was there. He said he could make more money. He should be back though, at least thats what he told Calvin when i was there. I feel bad for Michael though. Having to actually work and go out into the field. Poor guy. No that sucks though i agree another worker would be helpful. Thank you momma i love you to. Fast sunday here was different. So they still gave us time for dinner saturday and breakfast sunday but everyone is fasting so we just kinda sat in our class and studied. Kind of a pattern here at the CCM. Oh you have more time? Try and memorize this vocab! But yeah its great. Yeah dad told me about the details. Very nice hard by the way in that picture of you guys driving.
I got everything in my suitcase. You are super good at packing. Gunna take pictures as i unpack. Your watermelon looks pretty good not gunna lie. The watermelon here is like the only fruit that isnt amazing.
So my week.
So after emails and stuff i have like 2 hours left cause Langeveld takes forever to write his email. I make fun of him for it a lot. He loves it. But so i was reading a bunch of general conference talks and got a bunch of good stuff. Pretty cool. Im really glad you packed those ensigns for me. Seriously like amazing. As amazing as the scriptures are its nice to read other stuff every now and then. Wish i had brought my Jesus the Christ. Would be fun to read it again. But i manage! Haha. Played volleyball and fun stuff.
Thursday i studied. Then when i was bored i studied more. And so on.
Friday was cool because i taught another missionary from a different district by myself just a one on one and it went really well. I am grateful though to have a comp who is a boss at this language. At least for the CCM. Makes gaps better.
Saturday was trc. Trc is when we teach actual people. Last week we just taught another mission comp but this week we taught actual mexicanos. It was crazy. So we taught a couple and the guy, Fransico, had been a member for 40 some years, has been a stake and a mission president, and 5 of his 7 children have either served a mission or he has one on a mission. The other 2 are girls and were married in the temple and such. So he basically taught us more than we taught him. Like Langeveld would share a story and then Frank would bare his testimony of it then share another scripture and tell us how he likes it. Then i would share a scripture and Frank would be like " that reminds me of this story is this scripture" and he would just go.His wife didn’t say much, thankfully cause when she talked she talked fast, and quiet. Seriously couldn’t understand like anything. It was bad. But a good experience.
I basically told you about sunday.
Monday was good. My district has been having trouble with staying focused for the last couple weeks so Presidente Lindeman told me to share this with the district. So when he was a teacher at the provo mtc they used to have 3 teachers for language, a morning day and evening teacher. Well about halfway through his teaching years the mission department changed that and said the missionaries need to have a block of time when they are responsible for learning and teaching themselves. So after lunch now we just study by ourselves. There is a teacher in the building that if we can ask questions we can go to them, but other than that it is on us. I like that time because i do most of my memorizing stuff during that time. But i think it helped. Everyone is kind of figuring it out now.
Tuesday was awesome. As always. Our devotional was by Elder Holland during a talk in January 2013. It was so good so here are the points.
So he starts off saying how everything he has he cherishes because of his mission. Then he says that the missionaries of old were able to succeed because of one fact. He thinks they all knew that apostasy would happen however they could keep going because they knew that we would succeed. The missionaries in this dispensation would succeed. Because our dispensation will be the final dispensation. ¡Because this is the generation that will not fail! Then he talked about how the 2nd coming started in 1820 at palmyra. Then he talked some more about stuff that doesn’t really affect non missionaries. The he gave us a challenge. And when an apostle of the lord challenges you you take it. He challenged us to come home with at least 1 convert. No matter where we are, no matter what area we are in, no matter how bad or good our companion is, or your branch council or whatever your excuse may be, come home having converted yourself. Then he said I command you to come home with at least one convert, and it better be you. That was super good and gave me chills. Because everything else is entirely up to someone else. But what I do and what I feel is up to me. Its the element i have complete control over. Elder Holland says that the turning point in his life was the day he opened his call. For your sake invest yourself in your  mission, for your sake, for your family´s sake and for the sake of your lord, invest yourself in your mission. Then he talked about some more stuff, then he said what is the title of our handbook? It is Preach MY Gospel. Not Preach your Gospel, or your mission presidents Gospel, MY gospel. It is his Gospel so we do it his way. The title was almost Preach my Gospel, with my spirit. Really liked that. Forget yourself and attend to the work.
We are God´s investigators, we are not any better than the people we teach. We are just simply farther along. We want our investigators to read and pray, well God wants us to read and pray. It really made me think. I am not any better than those people. I might know a little bit more, but I’m not better than them. I am a missionary but I'm not the teacher. God is the only true missionary. So when Alma the younger was converted by the angel it says that the earth shook beneath him. Elder Holland asked a simple question. Do you think a mile away that you windows rattled? Holland suggests that we can have personal earthquakes. We need to astonish the people. The word astonish root word is tondra, which is thunder. We need to astonish people when we teach. When we leave the family needs to turn to each other and say who were those young men and what did they know. Teach to astonish.
How do we know if we are doing what we can. If you are growing your testimony, and teaching with faith, you are doing your job. I love stuff like that cause it helps me I never feel like i am marking up to what i can be doing. So holland says if you do that then just work as hard as you can until someone says to go home. Notice he didn’t say to work until a month before than think of home. I know its early but i hope i can do that.
So after devotionals we always get together as a district and talk about. I asked the group what is the difference between Elder Holland and us. We have the same basic knowledge of the gospel. We both hold the priesthood. So what is the difference. We need to live the gospel and trust the lord and we to can astonish people.
Well thats about it. Im glad i chose to serve a mission and glad to have such an amazing support back home. Love you all and be strong and love the lord.

A week full of growth

Oh mama.
So to start off Holy cow that is a ton of tips.  Yeah Juliane told me about the ward change. Changing the order though is crazy. Bro Welty told us once that an apostle said that by the time the people who were little kids then had kids of their own Moses Would be split not just once but twice. Or maybe it was 2 generations but still I can see thats definitely happening. That is amazing that noone wants to mow. Not gunna lie I look back at all those times I mowed the lawn and just think man what I wouldnt give to go back and do that again. Just kidding definitely dont miss that. Like at all. I feel like an immediate blessing of my mission is I dont have to mow that stupid lawn again.
Thats awesome that seminary is upping its game now. I know way to many kids that didnt take seminary seriously. I loved seminary and it has helped me so much in my mission already if I could I would go back and take seminary as a 5th grader on. Could learn so much and still not know it all. But my seminary teachers were awesome. I totally agree with you that people need to priortize. Yes sports are important but if you place sports before seminary you are a huge tonto. I love spanish insults. Anyway it goes straight to the 2nd commandment. You are placing an idol before God. Not cool. People need to get their heads on straight. Anyways yes I approve the new standards and I hope it helps people focus more.
Espanol is muy dificil. Pero el Espiritu ayuda me mas tiempos. That is a horribly broken sentence and is only correct on the vocab but hey it works.
                                                            my desk
Yes I got my package I loved it so much. Still have like 3/4 of it but its disapearing slowly.
Teaching is kinda weird. We teach our teachers most days they just like assume a false identity of an actual investigator and we try and teach. Its hard because 1 the language and 2 my comp like doesnt breathe between sentences so its hard for me to step in and help teach. And then we get done and we talk about how it went and he gets mad that I dont help more. But its going good. One agreed to baptism and the other we are going to ask tomorrow.
Being a DL is fun but hard. Its nice because I am a worrier so it gives me something to worry about other than myself. One of our hermanas has been super sick and is in the process of going home now. It really sucks but the spirit kind of prepared me for it and has been telling her she needs to go home and get better. So the other hermana will change districts then it will just be the elders. That will be fun.
So my week. So after we emailed last week I played a ton of volleyball then went and we taught our night investigator. It was horrible. Its hard to teach when you havent had the spirit with you and you have been goofing off all day. And to top it off literally my comp didnt let me say a single word. I introduced myself. I would try and say something and he would cut me off like halfway into my first word. It was horrible. Then thursday we studied more and taught our morning investigator. I actually got to talk this time, not as much as I would like but I still got to. We are working on it. So I am studying grammar rules half the time and then the other half I study vocab I have in a little notebook I carry with me. I am getting better. Its definitely the best way to learn vocab just because I carry it with me so when we are going somewhere I'll take it out and study, or have my comp quiz me. Waiting outside the bonia, at night after scripture study, really anytime there is a gap. Friday y sabado were the same thing really.
Sunday was awesome. I didnt have to talk so I will definitely have to in 2 weeks when there is talks again. Getting ready for that. Presidente Lindeman helped us memorize the bautismo prayer and how to say it and everything. Then Presidente Cardenas spoke. He used to be an area general presidency and a mission president and is an all around righteouss dude. Really nice guy. But he spoke about how as a mission president he often had to sacrifice great leaders who would have made great zone leaders or aps so they could be trainers. Really good lesson. Then he had Lindeman translate for him and told a story of how when he was travelling with President Eyring he was expecting a great lesson from him and all he did was work on a talk. About halfway through the flight he stopped typing and look at Cardenas and said I dont have time to tell you a lesson right now, there are more important things to be doing. Then started typing again. It all lead up to how we need to leaders by example not by lecture. Really good talk. Then our first devotional was by Presidente Pratt( who by the way is Parley P Pratts decendant.) about how we need to speak our language more. Then our 430 devotional was a video by Elder Scott of the quorum of the 12. I forgot my notebook at la casa so I cant relate everything but a few thing I really liked and remember. 1: your call is a divine call from God. 2: my personal favorite, God called you to succeed, not to fail. He will not let you fail. You might let you fail but if you rely on the Lord he will not let you fail. I loved that so much just because its been hard learning the language and I feel like I am failing in my mission sometimes. But that helped me so much because its so true. I am called to preach the gospel of Jesu Cristo and the Lord WILL NOT LET ME FAIL. He loves me and I can feel his love for me and I know I can not fail in any way with him by my side. 3: He called you. That simple statement was awesome. I mean there are so many people out there, so many missionaries but my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called me to serve. He called other people yes, and he could have called anyone. But he didnt. He called me. And because of that I am going to do my absolute best to do everything I can to live up to his expectations.  4: He talked about prayer and how the Lord answers prayers. He said at times the Lord wishes us to know we are right so he gives us the stupor of thought to know what. When we are wrong he leaves us with an uneasy feeling. But sometimes we get no answer. Now why would our loving Heavenly Father wish to do that to us? It is because he wishes to test us. He wants to see what we will do without a direct hand from him. It is because he trusts us to make the correct decision. And if we dont make the right decision then he will let us know. He will not let us go down the wrong path for to long. This was awesome because I have prayed more these last weeks then I have in 18 years combined. And yet I dont always get answers. And I was wondering why but with those words from Elder Scott it gave me some major motivation and trust in God. I mean who doesnt want to know God trusts them? I wish I could remember more to it than that but it was so amazing I wish you could watch it. But its only available to mtcs. I can't even watch it again. So last thing about that. After he closed and the hymn he got up and before the prayer and said something along the lines of I bless you that you will learn the language and he reiterated that he called me, and the lord will not let you fail. Then the prayer happened and Elder Jones, one of the head type guys here at the mtc, said when an apostle of the lord interrupts the flow of a meeting to reiterate what he already said, you know it is doctrine and you can take that to the bank. I loved that so much it was inspirational to me. He called me.
Oh yeah so on sunday Elder Baum (said like the explosive) told the story of the footprints in the sand. If you dont know it here it is. So a man is walking along a beach and sees 2 pairs of footprints in the sand. And as he is walking he realizes it is his life. The footprints are his and the Lords. He notices at some points in his life though one of the tracks disapears and when it does the other prints get deeper and look like they are struggling to walk. And in several points it does this. Finally he stops at a point where the tracks are singular and asks Jesus "Why do you keep abandoning me in my times of need? I remember this time my mother passed away I needed you more than ever why did you abandon me?" At this point the Lord smiles and gives the man a big hug and says " Those arent your tracks. I didnt abandon you during the hard times, at those times I carried you." I love that story because it gives me comfort, the Lord doesnt abandon us ever. When life is rough we have to realize how much the Lord is there for us despite how hard it is for us to see. The atonement is so great I cant explain it sometimes.
So on Monday I decided I was going to memorize the first vision in spanish. The PME (predicad me Evangelio) has a great version so I spent most of language time monday doing that. Its really cool to be able to do that in Spanish. And then on tuesday in our lesson to Mayra we changed our plan to the restoration so I was able to share it to her without reading. I felt the spirit so strong and almost got choked up when I said "Este es me Hijo Amado, ¡Escuchalo! "(This is my beloved son, Hear Him!) Before my mission I guarantee that never would have happened but now its almost a common experience. The spirit is so great, it is really the teacher not me or my comp. I cant even imagine what it will be like teaching people in Chile. Cant wait for it though.
Tuesday at our devotional my branch sang La Luz de verdad, mixed with some I hope they call me on a mission. We sounded pretty awesome, Hermana Gill is an awesome music mixer person I dont know what they call it but she copied and pasted it all together. Very powerful. I was thinking about it, and really I think the Lord had me do that youth choir so I wouldnt completely fail at that. He was looking out for me. Again.
So a scripture that really helped me this week was the line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little. It sounds cooler in spanish though. But it helped me realize that I am learning as fast as I can learn. The spirit will make sure I learn as fast as I can. I'm just a little slower than some.
So I got a haircut because apparently you can get it a lot shorter than we thought. BOOYA!

With all my love, your son
